WHAT WE ACCEPT:

We accept fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry that challenges, inspires, entertains, and awakens. Each manuscript should be complete and as close to publication-ready as possible. Works should be original and not previously published.

For fiction: We focus on literary fiction (in all its varied forms and genres), experimental writing, and LGBTQIA+ stories. And who doesn’t love a little sex, magic, and fantasy. We’ll leave it to you to decide what “literary” means. We are, by no means, gatekeepers.
For creative nonfiction: We are looking for memoir, essay, and educational works that reveal, inform, and celebrate the underground, unheard, and untold narratives of humanity. We are especially interested in Own Voices stories.
For poetry: We want chapbook-length poetry collections in all forms. Rhyme or don’t, follow form or be free: whatever it takes to inspire.

WHAT TO SEND:

For all submissions, please include a Query Letter, a Brief Synopsis of your work, your Author Bio with your pronouns and preferred name, and any relevant Social Media handles. See below for additional info based on genre.

For fiction: Include the first 10 pages of your manuscript in the body of your email.
For creative nonfiction: Include the first 10 pages of your manuscript in the body of your email. If your work spans multiple essays or topics, include a full synopsis of subsequent materials.
For poetry: Send a selection of 10-15 poems in the body of the email.

If your work contains a visual art component, include 1-2 examples of the work in the body of the email.

Please note: All writing, samples, and examples should be included in the body of the email. Attachments will not be opened.

WHERE TO SEND IT:

Please send all submissions to submissions@parlyaree.com with the subject line: “Query - <Type of Work/Genre> - <Title>”.
We currently accept submissions through email only.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

All submissions are reviewed and considered by our team. We consider each manuscript thoroughly on merit, style, and how it fits with the Parlyaree vision, and we will respond to every submission with a yay or nay; however at this time we are unable to provide individualized critique or feedback on every piece received.
Our current reading time is within two months of receipt. If you have not heard from us at the end of two months, feel free to reach out to us. However, we would appreciate you holding back on followups until that time. (We’re writers too, so, trust us—we know the agony of the wait. However, too many followups slows us down.)
We’ll let you know our decision as soon as we can! And, in the meantime, if your work is accepted elsewhere, congrats! and please let us know ASAP so we can remove it from our consideration.
